Websense appoints APAC GM for Messaging Security

Websense has appointed Andy Lake as general manager, Messaging Security, APAC.

Based in the company's Sydney office, Lake will work with the regional sales teams to support Websense Messaging Security business focusing on helping partners maximise their business productivity.

Lake has more than 15 years' experience in the IT, telecommunications, Internet, new media, and Interactive/Pay Television sectors having established several awarding winning ISPs and Internet based businesses across the region.


He worked in Asia for several years with leading ISPs and providing market entry efforts for non-Asian technology businesses specialising in security and disruptive access.

He also has experience selling Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) based email security solutions.

Lake joins Websense from MessageLabs where he spent over four years in a variety of roles, including heading up the company's Asian business as director of Sales and Operations based in Hong Kong before relocating to Sydney as director of partners APAC.

Prior to that, he was executive director of Global Orient (Asia) Ltd, a Hong Kong-based technology consultancy and business development company.

He also worked in operational and project management positions for CLP Telecom, SmarTone Mobile Communications (now Vodafone), and CLEAR Communications Ltd (now TelstraClear).
