Viruses worry Japanese mobile phone users

By

Japanese mobile phone users - who have access to some of the latest mobile handsets and network technology - are increasingly concerned about viruses, spam and ID theft on their mobiles, according to research from McAfee Security.

McAfee's report, which is based on research conducted recently in
Japan, also reveals increased concerns about the security of emerging wireless technologies.

The company says that the rise in consumer awareness of mobile phone attacks means that respondents are seeing increasing value in more robust security on their mobiles.

88 per cent of respondents said they were concerned about mobile
security, whilst 44 per cent said they had major concerns over the
issue.

52 per cent of respondents told researchers they would consider
changing their mobile service provider if they could improve their
security levels.
