Wireless broadband provider Unwired has announced it has signed its 25,000th subscriber.

Wireless broadband provider Unwired has announced it has signed its 25,000th subscriber.

"This is an exciting indication of what we can achieve when we rollout nationally," said David Spence, Unwired CEO in a statement.

"We are already number one in Australian wireless broadband in customer numbers, yet we are currently only available in Sydney, which is equivalent to less than 25 per cent of the overall Australian market," he said.

Spence said word of mouth contributed greatly to subscriber growth. According to Unwired customer research, 81 percent of respondents would be likely to recommend the service to family and friends.

Unwired figures also showed that 31 percent of respondents said they had no fixed phone line, preferring instead to rely on wireless broadband and mobile phones for communications.
