Foreign exchange firm Travelex has signed a deal with Atos Origin for the development and support of a cashing system for travellers cheques.

The system will go live at all the firm’s offices worldwide later this year and is intended to securely manage the cheque cashing process when they are presented by clients.

Microsoft's .NET technology is being used to build the platform, which is hoped to enable improved auditing and monitoring functionality to track travellers cheques and step up fraud protection.

According to Travelex, criteria for selection of the supplier during the competitive tender included cost effectiveness and that the system is easy for staff to use while providing the company with improved management information.
