Big distributor Tech Pacific has signed a distribution agreement with games developer Take 2 Interactive, reaffirming its push into the home market.

Take 2 is a developer of games software for the PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, Game Boy Advance, Xbox games machines and PCs.

Its titles -- which include the popular Grand Theft Auto, Max Payne and Duke Nukem -- are published under the Rockstar Games, Gathering, Gotham Games, Joytech and Global Star labels.

Joshua Velling, systems and peripherals category manager at Tech Pacific, claimed Take 2 was the number two player in the games software market behind Electronic Arts (EA) and were popular on the PlayStation 2 platform.

Tech Pacific also distributes for games publishers Sony and Microsoft and is looking to strike more distribution contracts with other publishers in the future, according to Velling.

Take 2's managing director James Ellingford was not available for comment at press time.
