Financial group Suncorp has signed on security vendor RSA to help protect its internet users from unauthorised transactions.

Suncorp joins RSA’s bandwagon
The product, RSA’s two-factor authentication technology, matches a self-created password along with a Suncorp branded security token which displays an unpredictable code every 60 seconds.

The user then combines this randomly generated number with a PIN number to authorise transactions made from Suncorp internet banking account.

Terry Wasmund, general manager of deposits at Suncorp said the introduction of the security token, will help reduce the threat of unauthorised transactions occurring.

“Customers now need to enter two random codes, one at log in and one when transferring externally,” he said.

Since its launch one month ago, more than 12,000 customers have applied for the Suncorp security token, said Wasmund.
