Rogue trader Nick Leeson has been confirmed as the closing keynote speaker at the tenth annual RSA Conference Europe.

In the aftermath of the AIB trading scandal in New York, the collapse of Enron and WorldCom, and most recently the failure of many international banks as a result of the global economic crisis, is expected to provide fascinating insights into the continuing failures of senior and middle management at large corporations who still fail to protect shareholders and customers.

The conference, which takes place from 20th to 22nd October in London, will this year be built around the theme of cryptography, specifically the influence of Edgar Allan Poe.

Linda Lynch, RSA Conference Europe Manager, said: “RSA Conferences have historically attracted speakers who provide a unique take on the IT security industry and we're delighted that Nick Leeson has become the latest addition.

"The recent banking crisis was caused in part by a poor approach to information management and security. No one is better positioned to provide perspective on those incidents than a man who was literally at the centre of one of the single biggest banking fraud incidents in the history of the UK.”
