Quova, a provider of web geolocation services, on Monday announced a partnership with network forensics tool supplier Forensics Explorers to offer a service aimed at helping law enforcement track down online criminals.

Quova's GeoPoint technology, which provides the geographic location of web site vistors, has been integrated into Forensic Explorers' NetWitness product suite for the new service, called GeoLookup.

A company executive said the service will help speed investigations of online crime for law enforcement officials and government agencies.

"A major challenge for law enforcement and corporate security is trying to geographically locate the source of an attack or location of a suspect based on IP address," Brian Girardi, director of forensics services at Forensics Explorers, said in a prepared statement.
