CipherTrust has launched a new portal that provides data about email sender reputation by domain and IP address, free of charge.

Executives at CipherTrust, a supplier of messaging security, said the site - www.trustedsource.org - is the only to combine data about multiple authentication standards used for email: Domain Keys, DomainKeys Identified Mail, SenderID, and Sender Policy Framework (SPF).

Administrators can use the portal to check the reputation of those sending email to their company, said Dmitri Alperovitch, a research engineer at CipherTrust. The portal provides historical data on email senders and whether they are flagged as a spammer or what, if any, authentication standards they use.

The site also contains statistics on global email trends such as top mail sending domains and includes a map showing spam volumes from around the world.

Jay Chaudry, CipherTrust CEO and chairman, said the company hopes the free service raises awareness about the spam problem and threats posed by fraudulent email. CipherTrust plans to release a commercial version of the portal soon, he said.
