Optus becomes number two telco to offer iPhone in Australia
In one short statement, Optus said it has signed an agreement with Apple to bring the iPhone to Singapore, India, the Philippines and Australia later this year.

Optus now joins Vodafone as the only two Australian mobile operators to officially confirm they will be stocking the iPhone in Australia.

An Optus spokesperson declined to offer additional information regarding the telco’s plans for the iPhone, including whether Apple would coincide the iPhone’s launch in Australia with the release of a 3G model.

Last week, Vodafone announced its intention to sell the iPhone in ten of its markets around the globe. Australia joins the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, India, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey among the list of key markets to sell iPhone for use on the Vodafone network.

A Telstra spokesperson declined to divulge plans it may have for the iPhone, but it is expected the telco will soon follow suit with an even shorter press release soon.
