Opera composes update

By

Opera's developers on Tuesday recommended that all users download the 9.64 update for the browser which contains multiple important security updates as well as stability fixes.

Among the security fixes in the update are patches for a remote code execution flaw in the handling of JPEG files as well as a cross-site scripting vulnerability which arises when certain browser plug-ins are accessed.

Other fixes include several updates for the handling of SSL and extended valuation security systems, as well as a "moderately sever" security fix which the company plans to disclose at a later date.

The update will also disable the ability for the browser to write security documents directly to disk and better handling for .p12 and Root security certificates.

In addition to the security fixes, the 9.64 update also contains several fixes for stability and interface issues, such as the display of text and news feeds within the browser.
