Nike hacker busted after stealing $80,000 worth of gear

A US man has been arrested after exploiting weaknesses in the Nike sports store to steal some $US80,000 worth of gear.

The hacker went on a five-month shopping spree using a dozen accounts provided by Nike to its client athletes.

According court documents posted to PRweb and verified by SC with the District Court of Arizona, former baseball sportsman Bradford Stephenson purchased $81,419.58 of merchandise and shipped the goods to various US addresses.

Stephenson learnt of the accounts through his association with sports athletes and made himself a guest on the accounts.

Police seized 231 items of merchandise and recovered $US17,057 of goods. The remainder were sold online and given away.

Stephenson was indicted on one count of computer fraud and struck a plea deal after agreeing to help Nike plug their leaks.

Reported leaked photos and a copy of the search warrant were posted to sports site PlayerSeason.
