Software company Network Associates has officially changed its name to McAfee to reflect its greater emphasis on security.

The company will be traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the new title.

"As a company, we are at a strategic turning point and the name change to McAfee reinforces our image," said George Samenuk, chairman and chief executive officer of McAfee. "Our security business is growing."

The sale of Sniffer Technologies, which is to be completed in late July, has allowed McAfee to focus on intrusion prevention solutions, a spokesman for the firm said.
