Mozilla has posted a new version of its Firefox 3 browser.

The 3.0.7 update for the browser promises multiple security patches as well as stability fixes.

The five security fixes in the update include three patches which address flaws rated as 'critical' by Mozilla.

The patched components include PNG and XUL components of the browser. If targeted, each of the three issues could allow an attacker to remotely execute code on a targeted system.

The other two vulnerabilities included a cross-site scripting vulnerability in the handling of XML code and a URL spoofing flaw in the browser rated as a minor security risk by Mozilla.

Among the bugs and stability issues fixed in the new version was an issue which caused cookie files to disappear, as well as a bug which sometimes left the file menu disabled.

Also included in the update was a number of minor security fixes for all versions of the browser as well as specific fixes for the Mac, Windows and Linux versions of the browser.

Users can download the new version of Firefox through the browser's built-in update components or through Mozilla's Firefox web site.
