Kaspersky dials into mobile security

By

Anti-malware firm Kaspersky Lab today launched a new enterprise-grade mobile security solution designed to protect corporate users from the growing threats targeted at mobile devices.

Kaspersky Mobile Security Enterprise Edition is compatible with phones running Windows Mobile and Symbian operating systems, and provides protection against spam and malware with an anti-virus scanner, an anti-apam module for SMS and a firewall.

The product also features an anti-theft module which allows users or administrators to remotely block access to the handset, or delete the device's memory by sending a coded text message to the corresponding number, said Kaspersky.

In addition, a SIM-Watch module is able to monitor when the SIM in a stolen device is replaced, sending a hidden message containing the new telephone number of the device to the rightful owner.

This allows the phone to be blocked or its memory deleted even if the SIM card is replaced.

The product also features a Kaspersky Administration Kit, which allows administrators to set and control security policies for corporate devices.
