Islam Online portal allegedly downed by Israeli hackers

By

IslamOnline.net, a major Islamic web portal, claims its site was effectively downed between 1550 hours on Thursday and 0630 hours Friday by hackers originating from Israeli internet sources.

The portal says the attacks started Monday March 22, the day when the Hamas spiritual leader Sheikh Ahmed was assassinated by Israeli occupation forces.

The site claims the attacks were due to its coverage of the killing and the publication of earlier interviews with Sheikh Yassin and other Hamas leaders.

According to IslamOnline.net, its IT staff were able to stop the attacks from blocking access or downing the site until Thursday evening, when the distributed denial of service aspect of the attacks
became too great.
