Google has boosted the storage and security for its US$50 per year Google applications suite, which includes a variety of tools, including word processing, spreadsheets and email clients.

Google uses Postini to beef up apps
Anti-spam capabilities have been added in, along with the ability to recover deleted emails for up to 90 days to help companies stay within compliance regulations. In addition the storage space allocated for customers has been upped from 10 to 25GB.

"It's about making administration of policies easier," said Peter Lorant, senior director of marketing at Postini.

"On compliance it's about administrators visibility on emails. Compliance also around 90 day message retrieval. These are all things Postini is providing. "

Goggle is also using the opportunity to try and increase the take-up of its applications bundle. Postini's email clients will all be offered a free trial of the Google service until June 2008 and the company is hoping many of them will stay with the Google package.
