Through new recommendation program.

Google is working to help enterprises determine which Android devices are robust enough for their business via a new recommendation program.

The program will validate devices and services that meet minimum hardware and software requirements, including for user experience, support, and security.

So far, 21 devices from manufacturers (with the notable exception of Samsung and HTC) are recommended through the program. Android device manufacturers in the program get an "enhanced level of technical training and support" from Google.

There are more than 2 billion active Android devices on the market, according to Google, and it is hoping to expand the range of available devices recommended under the program within the coming months.

"Some of the top concerns we’ve heard from customers include the need for frequent security updates, reliable and consistent software experiences, and simplified device selection," Android enterprise director David Still wrote in a blog post.

The Android enterprise recommended program would 'raise the bar of excellence' for enterprise devices and services, he said.

Google said it would expand the program to specialised and rugged devices, as well as enterprise mobility management firms, mobile carriers, and systems integrators.
