Google’s Apps business and education customers have been offered two new administrator security features that might help tip a decision to deploy Android tablets and phones.

Google bolsters Apps Android admin security

Customers using Google’s latest version of its Google Apps Device Policy app will be able to locate lost Android devices above version 2.2 on a map and reset its password remotely.

Apps administrators will also have the option to encrypt data on the range of forthcoming Android 3.0 tablets, according to Mayur Kamat, Product Manager for Google Enterprise Mobility.

Android works quite well with Google Apps, but we’re working to make it an excellent choice for both end-users and IT at businesses and schools,” said Kamrat.

The new features flesh out previously released administrator capabilities such remotely wiping data from missing devices, forcing users to employ a password and setting password parameters.
