Global Security Week kicks off

By

The annual Global Security Week awareness-raising initiative kicked off this week promising to coordinate, encourage and publicise a variety of security-related activities and events across the globe.

As part of the initiative, a new web site has been designed to help consumers and businesses decide which security products to buy in order to better protect themselves and reduce their risk profile.

The initiative is also seeking involvement from individuals, groups or companies to organise security awareness-raising activities throughout the week.

"Criminals are targeting networked computer systems to commit extortion, compromise financial details such as online bank accounts and credit card details, use personal information for identity theft, steal intellectual property or simply use the computing resources of others to attack third parties," said Gary Hinson, founder of Global Security Week.
