The protesters, called the "The Electronic Civil Disobedience (ECD) against the Fur and the Vivisection Industry" is targeting the servers of a number of fur traders by flooding them with thousands of emails over the next week.
The action, which started yesterday, is aimed at a number of companies. According to the ECD web site, Peek and Cloppenburg, the German Fur Institute, Fur and Fashion GmbH, the Fur Commission USA and Maison de Bonneterie are among those companies that have incurred the protesters' wrath.
"We're gonna put pressure on those companies and institutions which are responsible that animals like foxes or mink are still kept imprisoned in small cages, only to be killed for their fur after a few months," said a statement on the ECD website.
Fur Commission USA executive director Theresa Platt said that no action had taken place against any of its servers and they had notified ISPs of the threat. At the time of writing the ECD website had itself gone offline.
