The “automated broadcast transformation” will see “key Football Australia and member federation venues equipped with NBN services from Superloop and unspecified “AI cameras.”

This will be used to broadcast matches in the Australia Cup, a national knockout tournament involving over 700 senior community clubs nationwide.

Superloop also signed on as telecommunications sponsor for the competition.

On the transformation, Football Australia (FA) said Superloop “will provide … robust connectivity infrastructure necessary to introduce AI camera technology across key … venues, enabling the automated delivery of 4K resolution streams to YouTube, OTT platforms, and other domestic and global media destinations of FA’s choosing.”

Darwin Football Stadium will be one of the first venues to be activated.

“Superloop will deliver tailored solutions, including business-grade NBN internet and mobile data services, to support FA’s ambitious rollout of automated production technologies and real-time collection of match and player stats to create a true ‘history’ of the sport,” FA said in a statement.

Football Australia CEO James Johnson called the partnership and project “a pivotal moment in our digital transformation journey.”

“Superloop's expertise and technology will allow us to deliver a more dynamic and engaging live streaming experience to fans nationwide, while unlocking cost efficiencies and new revenue streams for the sport,” he said.
