Pipe has selected the Equinix Sydney1 data centre as an interconnect provider for its PPC-1 cable between Sydney and Guam.
Equinix will provide Pipe with access to "the aggregation of Australia's leading carriers operating within the centre", it said in a statement.
Pipe will also utilise Equinix data centres in Tokyo and San Jose, the statement said.
“Our landing of the new cable is to provide Australia with enhanced, competitive connectivity to the rest of the world,” Bevan Slattery, CEO of Pipe said.
The PPC-1 cable has a capacity of 2.56 terabits and currently has four known ISP customers.
It is one of the assets targeted by SP Telemedia in its proposed $373 million acquisition of Pipe.
