Entrust to try PKI market

The 10-year-old PKI software company plans to market the service to businesses and government agencies that may not have requisite PKI experience in-house. In particular, Entrust will be marketing to agencies who hope to meet HSPD-12 mandates by moving toward unified logical and physical access controls. The new Entrust Managed PKI Service was designed to meet U.S. federal common policy and standards requirements.

"We believe the service offering will help allow enterprises and government agencies to take advantage of the flexibility of Entrust's PKI technology in a quick and cost effective way." said Peter Bello, Entrust senior vice president. "In addition to the federal marketplace, we believe Entrust Managed PKI Service will be of particular interest to commercial companies and state agencies that need stronger security with the enabling characteristics of PKI, but don't want to incur the costs of building and maintaining an infrastructure to support it."
