The 8.5GB single-sided double layer (DL) DVD+R/-R media on display at Computex could soon be coming to a retailer near you.
 
CMC Magnetics, Ritek, and Prodisc Technology, three of the top optical disc manufacturers in Taiwan, are currently dispatching media samples to clients for certification in time for production, which is set to begin in the middle of June.
 
The disc manufacturers are hoping to use Computex as a reference for DVD+R/-R and CD-R prices, just as they were able to use CeBIT to gauge the price quotation for discs earlier in the year.
