Former Woolworths chief information officer Clive Whincup has relocated to London to take on the role of CIO for Europe at finance giant HSBC.

Whincup moved back to his home country, where he previously spent several years in technology leadership roles at Bank of Scotland and Lloyd's Banking Group, last month, according to his LinkedIn profile.
His new role will see him lead the technology operations for the UK-based finance giant's European operations from its London headquarters. HSBC is the world's fourth largest bank by total assets.
Whincup left Woolworths on June 30 after more than two years as CIO.
He joins HSBC with strong finance IT chops; prior to his stint at the retailer Whincup spent five years at Westpac in IT leadership roles, including two years as CIO.
Whincup also worked over fours years as the head of strategy and planning for Bank of Scotland, five years as the CIO for Italy's Gruppo BPM Banca Popolare di Milano, and just under four years leading service delivery and retail banking IT at Lloyd's.
Neither Whincup nor HSBC responded to request for comment.
