CiperTrust Monday launched a new version of its IronMail email security appliance with new spam detection capabilities.

The product features Enterprise Spam Profiler (ESP), a genetic algorithm to automatically tune detection techniques within its correlation engine.

ESP provides a specific picture of an email in order to block spam but also reduces false positives, said Matt Anthony, director of product marketing at Cipher Trust.

IronMail 4.0 also incorporates URL filtering, domain blacklists and an adaptive content analysis engine. The product also has the ability to configure spam settings by user, group or domain, for more flexibility.

The new appliance was designed with a lot of customer input and is shipping with most features turned on, which reduces the administrative burden, Anthony said.
