In announcing the date, Minister of Industry James Moore said the law, which received support from all parties during debate, will give Canadian businesses “clarity so they can continue to compete in the online marketplace.”
The law also contains provisions about phishing and spyware.
Audrey LeBlanc, president of the Consumers Council of Canada, said the law is good news for consumers, and will “give the government authority to do something about unscrupulous emailers.”
