Brocade 8Gbit/s switch fits HP blade chassis

By

Brocade has introduced a new high-performance Fibre Channel switch for embedding into HP BladeSystem c-Class blade server chassis units..

The module offers greater network bandwidth and increases flexibility, while cutting costs by reducing the number of cables and optical transceivers required, according to the firm.

Available immediately, the Brocade 8Gbit/s SAN switch is designed for organisations that want to consolidate and simplify their data centre infrastructure.

It frees up rack space by fitting into the BladeSystem chassis alongside the server blades and supports virtualised environments, Brocade said.

"Customers are looking for a high-performing, low-cost, scalable storage infrastructure to support the growing needs of their companies," said Luc Moyen, vice president and general manager of Brocade's Server Division.

The new Brocade 8Gbit/s SAN switch is available as a 24-port model and as a 12-port model upgradeable to 24 ports.

A trunking option provides a single 64Gbit/s load-balanced connection.
