Aventail has sold its managed SSL VPN services business to Netifice Communications, a supplier of IP VPN solutions.

The deal will allow Aventail to focus on its SSL VPN product business, Aventail executives said. Under the agreement, Aventail received cash and a four-year deal to supply Netifice with its appliances.

Netifice plans to operate the managed SSL VPN services division as a separate business unit, retaining all current Aventail managed services employees and the division's model as a wholesale provider.

AT&T, BT Spain, IBM Global Services, Infonet, MCI, and Sprint are among the service providers and carriers that use Aventail products for their managed SSL VPN services.
