Australian Cyber Security Centre names its next head

Following Abigail Bradshaw’s move into ASD.

The government’s technical authority on cyber security has a new head, with Stephanie Crowe taking over as head of the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC).

The leadership role was vacated in September last year when Abigail Bradshaw was appointed to lead the broader Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), of which ACSC is part.

Crowe - who has 15 years in signals intelligence and cyber security roles at ASD - was named as the new ACSC head by the Minister of Defence Richard Marles.

She had been acting head of the ACSC since late last year.

Marles said Crowe’s “experience and expertise across the cyber domain sees her well placed to lead the Australian Cyber Security Centre, at a time where we see Australian networks increasingly targeted by malicious cyber actors.”

Ex-ACSC head Bradshaw said Crowe’s “close relationships with international and industry leaders in cyber security” would be “vital to combatting the dynamic and challenging cyber threat environment.”
