3Com includes security for switches

By

Networking firm 3Com is putting security into its switches.

The 3Com Security Switch 6200, which is built to defend medium and large business against attackers, supports systems such as Check Point FireWall, ISS RealSecure intrusion detection, antivirus and content filtering, the company said.

The switch is the result of an alliance between 3Com and Crossbeam Systems. Under the agreement, 3Com sells Crossbeam switches to customers under the 3Com brand.

The 3Com Security Switch 6200 is available now starting at $25,000 (USD).
