NAB's new concept store is located on the ground floor of its new 700 Bourke St headquarters. The store is 25 percent smaller than traditional branches and heavily focused on self-service.
All store staff have been equipped with iPads which are sent notification alerts when customers enter the store and use the 'help iPad'.
Staff iPads are fitted with NAB applications as well as popular apps used by customers.
The bank is trialling a mobile bar fitted with the three most popular smartphones on the market. Store staff use them to walk customers through registering for internet banking.
NAB says the intelligent deposit machines it has installed are the first of their kind to be used in Australia. They can accept up to 50 cheques or notes at a time.
Self-service machines are designed for use by small business customers, and can be accessed outside of business hours with the open-plan store accessible as long as the building is open (7am - 7pm).
The bank is also trialling a large Samsung touch-screen which allows staff to have 'hip-to-hip' conversations with customers. Customers can also email themselves product information to read later.
The bank is hoping to do away with all paper in its branches, and uses digital signage for trivia and news to entertain customers that may be required to queue.
The product collateral in the store is fitted with QR codes and Samsung tec tiles which connect to interactive apps built by the bank and designed to encourage customers to connect with a banker either on the phone or online.
