Review: Courion Enterprise Provisioning
Courion’s Enterprise Provisioning Suite can be summed up as a fully adaptable, tailor-made identity-management solution. Users can select specific components of the suite and have a platform that meets their specific needs. The process starts with what Courion calls Jump Start. This is exactly what it sounds like, getting the process up and running out of the box.

Jump Start has four modules: Basic Access to automate the initial assignment of IT access; Admin New Hire to centralise user information and create new user accounts; Orphan Account Finder to help administrators scour databases for accounts not associated with known users; and Account Termination to allow them to disable all accounts associated with users who have left the company.

We found the suite very easy to install and manage. A series of wizards helps with the installation and in the initial configuration. The utilities themselves are just as simple to use. With a focus on the visual, this tool makes creating workflows and managing users a snap.

Courion’s offering is designed to be integrated with current environments right out of the box. When configuring the suite administrators can connect it to existing databases, LDAP directories, and other components to bring everything together in one place for management.

This product comes with many well-organised pieces of documentation. The installation and configuration guide shows how to get the Enterprise Provisioning Suite and its utilities up and running as well as integrating existing databases. Other pieces of documentation pertain to single parts of the suite such as user guides for each of the Jump Start options.

Courion offers a support package that includes many features such as 24/7 phone, web or email technical support, plus resources such as updates and an online knowledge base.

We find this product to be excellent value for money. Since it is fully customisable, you only pay for the pieces you need and, with base prices starting at less than £10 per user, there is no wasted cost.
