Tofino Industrial Security's chief technology officer Eric Byres has demonstrated to SC Magazine how the company's technology can protect against a worm attack on an industrial SCADA system. Byres demonstrated how a worm written by one of his students that targeted the MODBUS communication interface could affect the operations of a gas pipeline, unbeknownst to human operators of the industrial control systems.
