MYOB’s Jay Nawaz takes on chief product officer role at Mable

Search platform for support workers Mable has appointed MYOB’s Jay Nawaz as chief product officer.

Nawaz held the role of head of product, platforms at MYOB where he was responsible for the platform’s strategic direction. He assisted the company in its move to a customer-centric and customer value-based approach during his tenure.

Prior to MYOB, Nawas was REA-Group’s head of product, customer and business systems, and he also held various management positions at IBM for over 15 years.

“I’ve had a fantastic career to date, but what I’m looking forward to the most is the opportunity to work on a platform making a positive difference in the daily lives of the people and communities it serves,” said Nawaz, commenting on the business’ profit for purpose mission.

“What an incredible bonus it is to love your job and what the company aims to achieve.”

In their search for a CPO, Mable considered options both locally and internationally.

According to Peter Scutt, Mable CEO, “We have searched high and low for the right mix of expertise, skills, attitude and tenacity, and we are thrilled that Jay will start with us in May.”
Nawaz’s “team-first approach” to leadership was a key differentiator according to Scutt.

“What made Jay stand out from other applicants is his diverse experience ranging from pricing to sales and product management. This diversity has given him a remarkable ability to identify problems and work with multidisciplinary teams to form solutions and achieve outcomes across an organisation,” said Scutt.

As Mable seeks to attract and retain talent, the business has invested in the growth and development of its employees, while doubling its headcount to approximately 250 staff, the company claims.

“People select employers based on various factors, including salary. Employees want a say in their work and what they deliver. They want their values reflected in their work and the ability to work remotely. They also expect learning and development opportunities to grow their capabilities. We pride ourselves on the suite of offerings available to employees at Mable.”
