Warhammer 40,000 MMO enters production
Gaming company THQ has entered into a worldwide licensing agreement with tabletop gaming company Games Workshop for the Warhammer 40,000 franchise through to 2013.

The agreement extends and expands on THQ's previous agreement with Games Workshop for the Warhammer 40,000 licence, which encompassed interactive rights to console and handheld systems, as well as Windows PC editions.

Under the agreement, THQ gains rights to all wireless devices and all online rights, including massively multiplayer online (MMO) games. It also includes the same rights to Games Workshop's Gorkamorka and Necromunda properties.

As a result, the company is already developing the first MMO games based on the Warhammer 40,000 franchise.

THQ's Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War franchise has sold more than two million units worldwide with the release of hybrid expansion Dark Crusade last year.
