SAP mobile due 2011.

German software giant SAP has promised to deliver a mobile platform for every "major" mobile operating system within the next nine months, the company said at its Sybase-SAP roadmap briefing today.

SAP announces mobile embryo

"The product roadmap and go-forward strategy we are sharing today positions SAP to be the only company enabled to deliver a full suite of enterprise software and next-generation business intelligence on any device at any time," said SAP's co-CEOs Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe.

SAP said it would work with its recent $6.5 billion acquisition, Sybase, to deliver the mobile products, and pointed to its mobile CRM and Business Suite-based workflow application as evidence the union is producing results.

The German software maker has not said which of the rapidly changing list of major mobile operating systems it would ready SAP for, which could arguably include Android and Apple's iOS with BlackBerry, Symbian OS, and Windows Mobile.

SAP wants customers to build mobile applications on top of SAP Business Suite, and its on-demand product, Business ByDesign - due in Australia by 2011.

SAP also plans to port its Business Suite and BusinessObjects business intelligence software to Sybase servers - again, to bring business intelligence to mobile devices.
