Sony< has confirmed that it will not be cutting the price of the PlayStation 3 in Europe.
However, the firm is attempting to placate its European customers by offering a new Starter Pack containing an additional controller and two first-party games with the consoles.
The choice of first-party games in the pack will vary from country to country, but the list will include the controversial shooter Resistance: Fall of Man and the racing games MotorStorm, Formula One Championship Edition and Ridge Racer 7.
Sony hopes that the extra controller will appeal to those interested in head-to-head and multi-player gaming.
Sales of the PS3 have increased in the US since the US$100 price cut which Sony announced last week.
The Starter Pack is due on sale in the UK on 18 July and in the rest of Europe from 1 August and will retail for £425 (A$990).
