Microsoft said Wednesday that it has assigned a full-time analyst and supplied more than $46,000 in software to the National Cyber-Forensics and Training Alliance (NCFTA).

NCFTA is a partnership between the FBI, the National White Collar Crime Center, Carnegie Mellon University, and West Virginia University to bring together academia, industry, and government to fight cybercrime.

The Microsoft analyst will focus on analyzing real-time data related to phishing scams and help analyze information for CAN SPAM cases in addition to facilitating information sharing of industry case data with law enforcement. The analyst also will help spot computer crime trends and train law enforcement officials and IT professionals on techniques for investigating cybercrime.
