Fujitsu launches low-cost managed Chromebook service for ANZ

Fujitsu will offer managed services for Australian and New Zealand enterprises for Google's Chromebook personal computing platform.

The Japanese systems integrator and hardware vendor intends to woo customers with low total cost of ownership, zero-touch deployment and minimal operational downtime, along with a scalable environment.

Customers of the Fujitsu managed Chromebook service can select their preferred Chromebook, and the hardware is then deployed with the Citrix-based Virtual Workplace virtual desktop technology, for access to traditional Windows enterprise apps and corporate data.

Fujitsu will handle all user management, device configuration and maintenance as well as provisioning of approved corporate applications via the Google Store. 

Chromebook usage can be further tailored by limiting sites and devices users can access, customised environment and optimised file and print management. Operating system updates and support for the Chrome platform can also be controlled through Fujitsu.

Management and monitoring of Chromebook devices can be done centrally, for total control of the devices. Google's admin console provides over 200 certified policies that can be set for corporate Chromebooks. 

The company suggested the Chromebook platform could be used by retailers to equip stores with low-cost kiosks, remotely managed from the head office.
