MYOB has pulled the latest patch for its AccountRight accounting software package offline within four hours of release after discovering more bugs in the software.

False restart for MYOB patch

The AccountRight upgrade, the first of the Australian vendor’s products to be ported to Microsoft’s .NET framework, has been riddled with performance issues since its release in November last year.

MYOB released a service patch in December to address some of these issues.

A second patch, released on January 24, aimed to address memory issues in the software which slowed down opening and closing of windows, plus a feature to customise columns in business forms.

But within four hours, customers downloading the service pack noted problems.

MYOB, sensitive to the backlash it received during the November update, pulled the update to address the issue.

“We have received reports that once modified or saved, customised forms are displaying incorrectly, with incorrect column widths in tables," MYOB staff noted in support forums for the product.

"We have made the decision to remove the Service Pack 2 download to minimise any impact on our clients."

The company notified customers today that a third fix is undergoing testing.

The service pack remained offline at time of writing.
