But the huge figure dropped to 500 to 750,000 events per day when removing deduplicated events, Dell SecureWorks vice president Mike Cote said.

“That security incident comes from the customer and we work with them to get them involved so it comes in a different type.”

The number of events was rising each year, Cote said.

"What we see is consistently doubling and the CTU (counter threat unit) has to be intelligent."
