According to research from the UK National Hi-Tech Crime Unit (NHTCU), 83 per cent of the companies surveyed said were victims of cybercrime in 2003.
The survey took in responses from 201 firms, 62 per cent of which
said they had suffered some form of internet-related financial fraud. Three companies from the financial sector said they had suffered a total loss of £60 million as a result.
Seventy-seven per cent of respondents said they experienced
virus attacks - 10 per cent more than last year - which cost them £27,890,000.

Criminal use of the internet, primarily by employees, was experienced by 17 per cent of firms.
