Down since Sunday morning.

Supermarket giant Coles says its online shopping website is experiencing an outage due to a problem that occurred during IT maintenance work.

Coles Online goes offline after weekend IT maintenance

Customers have been reporting problems with the site since early Sunday, with the retailer initially advising users delete their browser history and cache in a bid to resolve the errors.

By midday, the supermarket revised its assessment, noting that Coles Online was suffering from unspecified “technical errors”.

It appears maintenance was conducted on the site overnight, but that the problems still persisted.

“The Coles Online website is down due to an internal software issue that occurred during regular maintenance,” the company said a short time ago.

“We understand that this has put customers out and our team is working rapidly to get the site back up and running.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and will provide updates as they can be made available.”

Those hitting the site on Monday were displayed a “site busy” page prompting them to go and shop at Coles’ eBay store instead.

Update, 30/4 5.50pm: Coles Online is back in service. A spokesperson thanked customers "for their patience as our IT team worked to fix the software issues impacting the site".
