Business Solutions Version 3.5

BitDefender has launched a new version of its small and mid-sized business (SMB) targeted security and management solution.

Adding layers of detection, it said that BitDefender Business Solutions Version 3.5 integrates anti-malware protection with remote network audit and system management using Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) technology.

Version 3.5 also includes detection and performance enhancements, including Active Virus Control (AVC) technology for Business Client v3.5, BitDefender anti-virus for Mac – Business Edition, Exchange 2010 compatibility and a new anti-spam engine with quarantine controls for SMTP mail and exchange servers.

Andrew Maguire, director of business security marketing at BitDefender, said the SMB solution required a "lot less system monitoring".

"We have also added AVC with a signature database and heuristics. AVC monitors the process to see malware designed to activate later. We had this in the consumer product for eight months and it has proved to be very effective and now have it across our product range.”

Other new features address the lack of IT resources. These include simplifying policy implementation and system management with wizard-driven security policy creation, network tools to remotely manage devices and integration into Active Directory to leverage the organisational structure already embedded in the network.

Rares Stefan, director business solutions unit at BitDefender, said it would help smaller organisations with problems unique to their position.

"Delivering protection against increasingly sophisticated malware threats and combines system audit and management functionality for greater network visibility that can proactively limit their exposure to internet-based attacks.”
