Aussie Travel Cover
In one of the very first breaches of 2015,
insurer Aussie Travel Cover discovered a teenage hacker had stolen two of its databases containing over 870,000 records and posted them online.
The firm actually became aware of the breach just before Christmas, but the hacker waited until mid-January to post the data dump online.
The databases contained sensitive customer information such as names, home addresses and other personally identifiable data, along with partial credit card details.
The hacker, "Abdilo", also attempted to gain access to databases via the ACCC and ACMA websites, and posted some of the vulnerability information he found there on the internet.
