DOE hit by 199 intrusions in 2003

Problems with the Department of Energy's unclassified cybersecurity program led to 199 intrusions, affecting 3,531 systems across the agency last year, according a September 24 report by the DOE's inspector general. Problems included failing to certify major systems and not ensuring deployment of adequate security controls at all of its sites.
