State of HR Tech

People might be an organisation’s most important asset, but that doesn’t mean that technology doesn't play a critical role in ensuring those assets are performing at their prime.

While HR has sometimes been last on the list when it comes to IT systems upgrades, the combination of a tight labour market and the need to improve productivity has led more organisations to investigate how technology might help them improve how they utilise their human assets.

These investments begin at the earliest stages of an employee’s journey, from their recruitment and onboarding, through their ongoing engagement, right through to their offboarding.

Throughout that journey, technology plays a critical role in ensuring they have the skills their organisation needs, while also ensuring they are kept happy, engaged, and safe.

As with most areas of technology investment, HR functions are increasingly feeling the presence of AI-based systems, which are being employed in everything from performance assessment through to career planning.

So, while the question of whether AI will ultimately be a destroyer or creator of jobs remains open, there is no doubt that in the short term at least, artificial intelligence will play an increasingly important role in how organisations harness their human intelligence.
