EDITOR'S NOTE

Good afternoon,

Today Australia's Academic Research Network (AARNet) released a book that details the earliest chapters in the history of the Australian internet.

Our troupe of telco journalists have had a good read and we are delighted to bring you an extract from one the juicier chapters, dealing with the events leading up to the sale of AARNet's IP to Telstra in 1995.

Today was also the last day of sitting in the case between iiNet and representatives of the U.S. film industry, in which Australia's Internet Industry Association's request to appear as a 'friend of the court' was dismissed.
